Recurring Events for Sitefinity CMS

Welcome to the evaluation website for Recurring Events, an enhanced administration area for Sitefinity Events Module that enables recurring event creation and maintenance. Sitefinity version compatibility: 3.7, 3.6

Evaluation Sign-up

  • New Users: Create a CMS account using the sign-up form in the right-hand sidebar. Upon the successful creation of your account you'll be automatically logged-in; please follow the link provided to navigate to the Events Module.
  • Returning Users: Login to CMS by following the "Login • Events Maintenance" link on the right-hand sidebar.

Please note this is a shared environment therefore you'll see listed all events created by all users; however you only have full rights for the events created by you.

Recommendations:
  • • Read the "Quick-start Guide" to become familiar with the new functionality.
  • • Avoid creating recurrence patterns that result in hundreds / thousands of instances: the environment is designed for functional evaluation, with limited resources allocated.
  • • After each evaluation session please delete all events you created.

Functional Highlights

Recurring Events - Edit
  • Interval type: day, week, month, year.
  • Multiple weekday support for weekly events.
  • Relative dates can be used for monthly, yearly events (e.g. 2nd Tuesday of the month every 2 months; 1st Monday of September every year).
  • Easy maintenance: update / delete all events in a series, update only the current instance, reset a recurring instance to single event.
  • Recurring series updates are applied to all event fields available for maintenance, including tags and categories.
  • All current and future custom meta-fields are automatically included in the recurring event creation / updates.

Recurring Events - List View

  • Event List View includes additional fields:
  • "Event Start" and "Event End" dates with sorting enabled.
  • "Recurrence" field displays the type of recurring event (parent, instance, or blank for standard events); links are available for each recurring item that allow for fast and easy recurrence pattern display [?], series filtering [Y], jump to series parent event [^].

Recurring Events - Calendar View
  • Event Calendar View displays the recurring events with a different colour vs. the standard events, and a "recurring event icon" in the top-left corner; click on this icon to display the recurrence pattern description and event instance start / end date-times, and duration.
  • Date-picker is enabled (right-hand side of "today" link) to easily navigate to any date.
  • Performance improvements: the response time of the calendar view reduced with about 70%
